Kaustubh Dabhadkar, MD MPH FACC
Cardiologist
I am a preventive cardiologist based in Charlotte, NC.
As a trainee at the Emory University in Atlanta, I cared for a school teacher in her 40s who suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes. On top of it, she was also dealing with maritial issues. It was my responsibility as a starry-eyed intern to counsel her about lifestyle changes. To everyone's surprise, she took the advice to heart.
She came back a year later with a lot of participation medals from half-marathons (attached picture) and she was off all of her medicines for blood pressure and diabetes. It was the first time I learnt the power of how one small step could alter the course of your life. All I did was empowered her with the right information at the right time.
Since then, I look for opportunities to empower everyone (including me) with the right information at the right time. As part of the same mission, I served on the American College of Cardiology (ACC) preventive cardiology leadership council in the past and now serve on the healthcare innovation leadership committee for the ACC. I also have a web app that helps physicians find evidence based answers using LLM (https://cliniwiz.com).
